We built ping to help you stay close to the people who matter most, not to sell your data. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how we keep it safe.
ping is a personal relationship app designed to help you remember important people, stay in touch intentionally, and keep your relationships warm. This Privacy Policy applies to:
(including this landing page and related pages)
(the app you install from the Apple App Store or Google Play)
When we say “we”, “us”, or “our”, we are referring to the team behind ping. You can reach us any time at getpingdotapp@gmail.com.
We collect only the information we need to provide and improve the service. Depending on how you use ping, we may collect:
• Email address (used to create and sign into your account).
• Name and basic profile details (e.g., display name).
• Timezone and preferences (used to schedule reminders
at appropriate times).
ping is built to help you remember and organize your connections, so some data you choose to store is personal by nature. Only you can see it in the product unless you explicitly share it.
• Contacts you add to ping (names, relationship labels,
notes you choose to write, important dates).
• Cadence settings (how frequently you want to be
reminded to reach out).
• Logged interactions, such as whether you called,
texted, emailed, or met in person, and any notes
you choose to save about those interactions.
To keep the app reliable and improve it over time, we may collect limited technical information when you use ping:
• Basic device information (device type, operating system).
• App version, performance data, and crash logs.
• Aggregated usage information (for example, which
screens are most used) to help us understand what
to improve.
If you contact us (for example via the contact form or by email), we will receive the information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, and the content of your message.
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
• To create and maintain your account and let you sign in securely.
• To show you your contacts, reminders, interaction history, and
other features you expect from ping.
• To send reminders or notifications you have asked for or that are
necessary for the service to function (for example, reminders that
someone is due for a check-in).
• To understand how people use ping so we can improve the design,
reliability, and features of the app.
• To respond to your requests, questions, or feedback.
• To detect, prevent, or address technical issues, abuse, or misuse.
Where applicable law (such as the GDPR) requires a legal basis, we rely on:
• Performance of a contract – to provide the ping
service you sign up for.
• Legitimate interests – to improve the app, keep it
secure, and understand usage, balanced against your rights and
expectations.
• Consent – where you explicitly opt in (for example,
to certain types of communications or analytics).
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only in limited circumstances:
• Service providers: We may use trusted third-party
providers to host data, send emails, or provide analytics. They
only process your data on our behalf and under strict
confidentiality obligations.
• Legal reasons: We may disclose information if we
believe it is reasonably necessary to comply with a law, regulation,
legal process, or governmental request; to protect the safety,
rights, or property of ping, our users, or others; or to detect,
prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues.
• Business transfers: If we are involved in a merger,
acquisition, or other change of control, your data may be
transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy or
an equivalent one.
We keep your data only for as long as it is needed to provide you with the service or as required by law.
• Account and relationship data are kept while your account is active.
• If you delete a contact or interaction in the app, it will no longer
be visible in your account; backups may retain limited copies for a
short period as part of regular system operations.
• If you delete your account or request deletion, we will remove or
anonymize your personal data within a reasonable time, subject to
any legal obligations we may have.
We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. However, no online service can ever be completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data, including:
• The right to access the information we hold about you.
• The right to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
• The right to request deletion of your data (subject to legal
obligations).
• The right to object to or restrict certain types of processing.
• The right to withdraw consent where we rely on it.
You can exercise many of these rights directly in the app (for example, by editing or deleting contacts) or by contacting us at getpingdotapp@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests.
ping may store and process data in countries other than the one you live in. When we transfer your data internationally, we take appropriate steps to ensure an adequate level of protection in line with applicable laws.
ping is not intended for children under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the product, legal requirements, or other factors. We will update the “Last updated” date at the bottom of this page when we do. In some cases, we may provide additional notice (for example in the app).
If you have any questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or how we handle your data, you can reach us at:
